The Campaign for Greener Arbitrations Announces Global Steering Committee for the 2024-2026 Term
CGA founder, independent arbitrator Lucy Greenwood, has handed over the President role to Christine Falcicchio of Sopra Legal and Cherine Foty of Covington and Burling LLP.
Greenwood has served as the Campaign’s President since its formal inception on Earth Day 2020. The Campaign evolved out of Greenwood’s personal commitment to conduct her arbitration practice in a more sustainable manner and to encourage others to do so as well, by launching the “Green Pledge” in 2019. The Green Pledge now has over 2000 signatories.
In this new term, the Campaign will continue its outreach to new and current Green Pledge signatories to inform them on best practices toward more sustainable arbitrations and assist them with implementing the Campaign’s Green Protocols and engage in Green Actions. In addition, the newly formed Innovation and Policy Task Force will focus on the synergies between ESG and climate change developments and the Campaign’s objective of emissions reduction, and will development a model to identify, quantify, and mitigate the carbon emissions of international arbitrations. The Corporate and Institutions Task Forces will continue working closely with stakeholders to promote the Campaign’s goals.
